Mary L. Kiely

Mary L. Kiely, Ph.D., served as the senior academic and research program officer at Stanford University for 20 years. During her tenure, she served as the executive director of multi-year science education projects within the Program in Human Biology, funded by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Carnegie Corporation of New York, and The David and Lucile Packard Foundation. She also served as the executive director of the Wallenberg Global Learning Network, as the executive director of the Initiative on Improving K-12 Education, and as a lecturer in the School of Education, co-teaching a graduate course on the History of Curriculum Reform in the United States.

Prior to joining Stanford, she spent two years as a science policy fellow at Harvard University, followed by six years as a program officer at Carnegie Corporation of New York where she focused on improving science education and supporting key, systemic education and economic reform efforts in the U.S.

Dr. Kiely originally served on the BSCS Board of Directors from 2004-2009. She rejoined the Board in 2015.
